Job Purpose
To perform maintenance and repair of mechanical components on board the vessel, ensuring the readiness and efficient operation of equipment and systems under the supervision of the engineering team.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Assist in dismantling and assembling mechanical parts, pipelines, and valves.
• Carry out welding and cutting tasks as required.
• Monitor technical faults, report them, and assist in troubleshooting and repairs.
• Use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Adhere to maintenance schedules set by the Engineering Department.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and tools.
• Comply with occupational and maritime safety procedures.
• Cooperate with ship engineers to execute required technical tasks.
Qualifications
• Experience in mechanical work or as a Fitter (preferably in the maritime field).
• General experience working on board vessels.
• Valid certifications in watchkeeping, safety, firefighting, and first aid for working on ships (STCW courses).
• Ability to use maintenance tools and welding equipment.
• Basic knowledge of ship systems and mechanical equipment.
• Basic maritime safety certifications (STCW) are an advantage.
