Designated Person Ashore (DPA)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to join our team. The DPA will serve as the key link between the company’s senior management and our fleet, ensuring the safe operation of all vessels and strict compliance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, Flag State regulations, and Classification Society standards.

Key Responsibilities:

 Safety Management System (SMS): Oversee the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s SMS both ashore and onboard vessels.

 Monitoring & Support: Monitor the safety and pollution-prevention aspects of the fleet's operation and ensure adequate shore-based resources and support are provided to vessels.

 Audits & Compliance: Plan, execute, and oversee internal audits. Act as the primary focal point during external audits conducted by Classification Societies (ROs) and Flag State authorities for DOC and SMC renewals.

 Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into marine accidents, incidents, and non-conformities. Analyze root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

 Emergency Response: Serve as a key leader in the company’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), maintaining direct communication with vessels, Flag States, and regulatory bodies during crisis situations.

 Direct Access: Maintain independent authority and direct access to the highest level of management to report on the safety and environmental performance of the fleet.

Qualifications & Requirements:

 Education: Master Mariner (Class 1) or Chief Engineer (Class 1) Certificate of Competency. Alternatively, a degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Maritime Management.

 Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of shore-based experience in ship management operations, preferably as a DPA or Deputy DPA.

 Certifications:

 Recognized DPA Certification as per IMO requirements (MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6).

 Certified Internal Auditor for ISM / ISPS / MLC.

 Marine Incident Investigation and Risk Assessment certification.

 Technical Knowledge:

 In-depth knowledge of mandatory rules and regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC).

 Extensive experience working directly with major Classification Societies (IACS) and various Flag State administrations.

 Skills: Exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively. Fluent in written and spoken English.
