Saudi Arabia’s maritime shipping and transport sector is experiencing rapid growth, driven by Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and strengthen key sectors, particularly logistics.
With its strategic location connecting major global trade routes, the Kingdom has prioritized the development of the maritime sector as part of its ambition to become a global logistics hub linking East and West.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services leads policy development and infrastructure advancement, while the Transport General Authority regulates the sector and issues licenses, ensuring a stable and efficient operating environment.
The Saudi Ports Authority also plays a vital role in enhancing port efficiency and operations, alongside contributions from other entities such as the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Economy and Planning, Ministry of Investment, Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority, all of which contribute to improving the regulatory environment and offering investment incentives.
A key enabler of this transformation is digitalization, with platforms such as “FASAH” streamlining import and export processes by enabling stakeholders to submit documents and complete procedures digitally, significantly improving clearance speed and trade efficiency.
Recent indicators reflect this rapid progress, with maritime traffic increasing by 6.75% in March 2025 compared to the previous year, and total cargo growing by 13% in May 2025. Additionally, increased investments in logistics zones have strengthened the Kingdom’s global ranking as an emerging maritime hub.
